BETERHIST 16 MG BETAHISTINE 16 MG TABLET is used to treat Meniere’s disease in which a membranous labyrinth, a part of the ear, causes deafness, and vertigo. Betahistine 16 mg helps to decrease the problems of vertigo associated with Meniere’s disease.
What Is This Medicine Made Of?
BETERHIST 16MG comprises Betahistine and is classified as a histamine analog. A histamine analog is a drug that increases the activity of histamine. BETERHIST 16MG – Betahistine 16 mg tablet enhances the blood flow in the inner ear resulting from the reduction of the pressure of the excess fluid. Excess fluid sends signals to the brain resulting in nausea, dizziness, and all symptoms of Meniere’s disease. Betahistine decreases the nerve signals from the inner ear to the brain, thereby relieving the symptoms of Meniere’s disease. Therefore, BETERHIST 16 MG BETAHISTINE 16 MG TABLET works as an anti-vertigo agent used for the reduction of vertigo symptoms associated with Meniere’s disease. Meniere’s disease is a disorder of the balance and hearing organs in the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere’s disease are vertigo, fluctuations in hearing, ringing of the ears, and pressure in the ears. Apart from these symptoms, one may experience dizziness which is responsible for nausea and vomiting.
Indication
Meniere’s disease is a balance disorder to alleviate vertigo symptoms, e.g. those associated with Meniere’s disease, BETERHIST - BETAHISTINE 16 MG TABLET is prescribed to overcome the symptoms. Thus, BETERHIST - BETAHISTINE 16 MG TABLET is prescribed to treat symptoms of Meniere’s syndrome such as dizziness, ringing in the ears, loss of hearing, and nausea. This medicine works by improving blood flow in the inner ear. This lowers the buildup of pressure.
Side Effect
Like all medicines, Betahistine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. It is generally a very safe medicine.

Administration of Dosage
The usual starting dose is 16mg, taken 3 times a day. The gap may be required of 6 to 8 hours between the doses. When your symptoms are improved, your doctor may decrease your dose to 8mg, taken 3 times a day.
Betahistine is a very effective medicine provided it is used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Continue your prescribed treatment even if you feel improvement. Early stoppage of Betahistine than prescribed, the symptoms may return or worsen. If you forget a dose of Betahistine, take it as soon as you remember. But do not double the dose. Follow the instructions of your treating doctor about how and when to take Betahistine.
It is advisable to take a dose of Betahistine tablets after a meal so that your stomach is not upset.
