OBENCLAV LB Amoxycillin 500 mg + Clavulanic Acid 125 mg + Lactic Acid Bacillus 60 million Spores Are available in a pack of 10*6 strips and are generally prescribed by General Practitioners, Orthopedics, Gynecologists, and Dentists. It is used as an antibiotic. Amoxycillin + Clavulanic Acid + Lactobacillus are a combination of three drugs i.e. Amoxicillin, Clavulanic Acid, and Lactic Acid Bacillus. The first salt available in the medicine is Amoxicillin. It is an antibiotic. It comes in the class of penicillin-like antibiotics. It thwarts the structure of the protective covering of bacteria without which bacteria cannot survive. The second salt is Clavulanic Acid which is also an antibiotic. It is also known as a suicidal inhibitor. When it is not effective alone as an antibiotic, it gives effect in combination with Amoxicillin. In other words, when Amoxicillin is not effective, it is given in combination with Clavulanic Acid to have desired results. In combination with Amoxicillin, Clavulanic Acid can defeat antibiotic resistance in bacteria. Bacteria emit B-lactamase that inactivates Ampicillin or penicillin-like antibiotics, Clavulanic Acid deactivates the action of Bacteria. Therefore, beta-lactamase inhibitor deactivates the resistance and increases the effect of Amoxicillin against bacteria. The third Salt is Lactobacillus or Lactic Acid bacillus. During treatment for bacterial infection, some healthy gut bacteria are also killed. Lactobacillus is added in the combination of the above drug to help restore the balance of healthy bacteria.
